This 2200 sf unique custom home was originally designed by Frank Loyd Wright and was redesigned to fit the lot size and current building code. This home is the definition of custom, built with quality by Wayne Faas of Faas Construction. The Frank Loyd Wright design offers a very contemporary look and feel that our client wanted to maintain with their flooring selections, and we had just the products to meet their needs.
Our client was looking for a light coloured, polished, large format tile throughout their kitchen, dining, and living space. A contemporary almost white coloured hardwood, stunning polished tile in two custom showers, two stone fireplaces and something very special for the open concept four season sun-room completed their vision. The large format tile in the kitchen, dining and living room was an easy choice for our client. The second we showed her the Olympia CarraraX 24"x24" polished marble look, our client knew it was meant to be hers. A perfect fit for this home!
After we chose the tile for the main living space we searched for the perfect hardwood floor for the bedrooms, office and hall. Of course, while selecting hardwood we found what we were looking for from the #1 Hardwood flooring manufacturer in the World, Canada's own Mirage. Our client selected the 4.25" solid custom order Red Oak Nordic, not only because of the perfect colour, but knowing that the quality of Mirage hardwood is obviously outstanding. After selecting the tile, we still had two custom showers to design and we decided on the Olympia Regal Polished 12"x24" to be installed in a stacked pattern, while using a tillable drain in the floor to keep the contemporary look.
We found the most difficult decision to make was what to put in the four season sunroom. It had to make a statement... classy, rich and of course still very modern and contemporary. After searching very hard for the proper fit, in the end we would have to say that we made the perfect selection, using Olympia Niagara Falls 12"x24" White and
Black mixed, perfectly installed in a herringbone pattern. The pictures of this room speak for themselves.
In the end we are very proud to have our flooring in this very well built Faas Construction home and we are proud of the work we did to ensure the happiness of our client.
